Raking the muck.

Who said that good ole fashioned investigatory journalism will be dead in the Media 2.0 era?

While the disaster of a print publication that is Portfolio magazine is probably trying to put the finishing touches on some clever little charticle about the erstwhile oil boom, a little industry blog that could is providing compelling, original, value-added reporting on a timely topic: L’affaire Madoff.

Joe Weisenthal has been hard at work uncovering a questionable New Jersey accounting firm that many Madoff clients were directed to use for tax preparation, while John Carney is focusing on Bernie Madoff: The Early Years.

It’s great stuff. Here’s hoping that 2009 turns out to be the Year of the Trench Coat

I agree on all counts. John Carney continues to amaze me with the things his barely lucid, booze-addled mind gives birth to.

Couldn’t agree more.
