Now that, my friends, from last week’s food column in the New York Times Magazine is a killer first line. That doesn’t make me uneasy at all. Totally socks you in the gut and the picture so vivid. The Silver Meteor. Inky Darkness. The Scent of Jessamine. Soft Coastal Air. ALL IN ONE SENTANCE. WOW. It’s sentences like that that make you wonder how a writer feels comfortable using the word “blog” in an article about prosciutto.
